Lodges of Freemasons do not ask men to join. Instead Freemasons insist that a man join of his own free will and accord. Seeking membership on his own by asking to become a member. This is done by asking someone whom he knows is a Mason, or contacting the lodge and requesting a petition for membership. Upon submitting his completed petition for membership, a committee of usually 3 Master Masons, will interview the candidate and return to the lodge with their approval or disapproval. Disapproval is very, very, rare. Upon approval by the committee, the petition is read to the lodge members in a regular meeting and if accepted, the candidate's membership is voted on in one lunar month. Upon receiving a favorable vote, the candidate is contacted and told the date to attend lodge to be initiated on the first of three degrees of Masonry. The three degrees of Masonry are, Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Mason. If you are interested in becoming a Mason click the Contact Us link below.
